Job Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Specialist to join our Conservation Planning team in Arusha, Tanzania. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing GIS solutions to support conservation planning and decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement GIS solutions to support conservation planning and decision-making
  • Develop and maintain spatial databases and data models
  • Conduct spatial analysis and mapping to support conservation planning and decision-making
  • Collaborate with conservation planners and other stakeholders to identify and prioritize conservation areas
  • Develop and maintain GIS training materials and provide training to conservation planners and other stakeholders

Required Skills:

  • Master’s degree in GIS, Geography, or related field
  • 5-7 years of experience in GIS, with a focus on conservation planning and decision-making
  • Strong programming skills in Python, R, or other languages
  • Experience with spatial analysis and mapping software, such as ArcGIS or QGIS
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
