Job Overview

The Environmental Monitoring Specialist will be responsible for designing and implementing environmental monitoring programs to assess the impact of our agricultural development projects on the environment. This will involve working closely with our project teams, government agencies, and other stakeholders to collect and analyze data on environmental indicators such as soil health, water quality, and biodiversity.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in environmental science, with experience in monitoring and evaluation, and a proven track record of working in developing countries. They will be able to communicate complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders and work effectively in a team environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement environmental monitoring programs to assess the impact of our agricultural development projects on the environment
  • Collect and analyze data on environmental indicators such as soil health, water quality, and biodiversity
  • Work closely with project teams, government agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure that environmental monitoring is integrated into project design and implementation
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local communities, government agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure that environmental monitoring is relevant and effective
  • Communicate complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders, including project teams, government agencies, and local communities

Required Skills

  • Master’s degree in Environmental Science or related field
  • 5-7 years of experience in environmental monitoring and evaluation, preferably in developing countries
  • Strong background in environmental science, including soil health, water quality, and biodiversity
  • Proven track record of working in developing countries, with experience in project design and implementation
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Fluency in English and Swahili, with ability to communicate in other local languages as required

Education

The successful candidate will have a Master’s degree in Environmental Science or a related field, with a strong background in environmental monitoring and evaluation. They will have a proven track record of working in developing countries, with experience in project design and implementation.

Experience

The successful candidate will have 5-7 years of experience in environmental monitoring and evaluation, preferably in developing countries. They will have a strong background in environmental science, including soil health, water quality, and biodiversity.

Salary

The salary for this position is 250,000 – 350,000 SSP per annum, depending on experience.
