Job Overview
The Quantum Computing Research Engineer will join Microsoft Tanzania’s Quantum Research Lab in Tabora, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of physicists, computer scientists, and hardware engineers. Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop quantum algorithms for optimization, cryptography, and machine learning applications.
- Implement quantum software using Q# and other quantum programming languages, ensuring high performance on both simulators and hardware.
- Collaborate with hardware engineers to test and validate quantum circuits on superconducting and trapped‑ion platforms.
- Publish research findings in top‑tier conferences and journals, representing Microsoft Tanzania on the global stage.
- Mentor junior researchers and interns, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous learning.
- Engage with local universities and research institutes to build partnerships and promote quantum education in Tanzania.
- Contribute to the development of quantum error‑correction techniques and fault‑tolerant architectures.
- Provide technical expertise to product teams integrating quantum solutions into Microsoft Azure services.
Required Skills
- Deep understanding of quantum mechanics, quantum information theory, and quantum algorithm design.
- Proficiency in quantum programming languages such as Q#, Python (with Qiskit, Cirq), or Julia.
- Experience with quantum simulation tools and cloud‑based quantum platforms.
- Strong programming skills in C++, Python, or Rust for high‑performance computing.
- Ability to translate complex scientific concepts into practical engineering solutions.
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and mathematical modeling capabilities.

Education

Salary
The competitive salary range for this position is 2,500,000 – 4,000,000 Tanzanian Shillings (SSP) per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Additional performance‑based bonuses and equity incentives may be offered.
