Job Overview
The Risk Analytics Lead will spearhead the development and implementation of advanced risk analytics frameworks that support strategic decision‑making across the bank’s portfolio. Reporting to the Head of Risk Management, the role involves collaborating with cross‑functional teams, including Credit, Treasury, Compliance, and Business Development, to identify, quantify, and mitigate financial and operational risks. This position plays a pivotal role in enhancing the bank’s risk culture, ensuring regulatory compliance, and driving data‑driven insights that improve profitability and resilience. The successful candidate will be instrumental in shaping the bank’s risk analytics roadmap, leveraging cutting‑edge statistical models, machine learning techniques, and big‑data tools to deliver actionable intelligence.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain quantitative risk models for credit, market, and operational risk.
- Lead the integration of risk analytics into the bank’s decision‑making processes and reporting structures.
- Collaborate with IT and data engineering teams to ensure data quality, accessibility, and governance.
- Conduct scenario analysis, stress testing, and sensitivity analysis to assess potential risk exposures.
- Prepare comprehensive risk dashboards and visualizations for senior management and board committees.
- Monitor regulatory changes and ensure models comply with the Bank of Tanzania’s guidelines.
- Mentor junior analysts and promote best practices in risk modeling and analytics.
- Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders in clear, business‑focused language.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in statistical programming languages such as R, Python, or SAS.
- Strong knowledge of risk management frameworks (e.g., Basel III, IFRS 9).
- Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Qlik.
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and critical‑thinking abilities.
- Effective communication skills for translating complex analyses into actionable insights.
- Ability to work independently and lead cross‑functional projects.
- Familiarity with SQL and big‑data platforms (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) is a plus.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related discipline is required. A Master’s degree or professional certifications such as FRM, PRM, or CFA will be highly regarded.
Experience
Applicants must have 5‑7 years of relevant experience in risk analytics, financial modeling, or quantitative research within the banking or financial services sector. Prior exposure to regulatory reporting and model validation is essential.
Salary
The compensation package ranges from SSP 2,500,000 to SSP 4,000,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based bonuses and other incentives.
