Job Overview

The Quality Assurance Manager will lead the QA function for Unilever’s manufacturing sites in the Lake Victoria region, ensuring that all products meet the highest safety, quality, and regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and continuously improve the Quality Management System (QMS) in alignment with ISO 9001, ISO 22000, and local regulatory requirements.
• Lead internal and external audits, ensuring timely corrective actions and compliance reporting.
• Oversee product testing, stability studies, and release procedures to guarantee safety and quality.
• Collaborate with R&D to validate new product formulations and scale‑up processes.
• Mentor and coach QA staff, fostering a culture of proactive problem solving and data‑driven decision making.
• Analyze quality data trends, implement root‑cause investigations, and drive preventive actions.
• Coordinate with supply chain to manage supplier qualification, audits, and performance monitoring.
• Ensure all documentation, batch records, and change controls are accurate and accessible.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of food safety standards, HACCP, and GMP practices.
• Proficiency in statistical analysis tools and quality improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Leadership experience with a track record of building high‑performing teams.
• Ability to work cross‑functionally in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
• Fluency in English; proficiency in Swahili is an advantage.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, or a related discipline is required. A Master’s degree or professional certifications such as CQE, HACCP, or Six Sigma Green Belt are highly desirable.
