Job Overview
The Supply Chain Analyst will play a pivotal role in optimizing end‑to‑end logistics processes, analyzing data to improve freight efficiency, and supporting strategic initiatives that enhance Maersk’s service delivery in Tanzania. Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, the analyst will work closely with operations, sales, and finance teams to ensure accurate forecasting, inventory management, and cost control. Key Responsibilities
- Collect, cleanse, and analyze supply chain data from internal systems and external partners to identify trends and performance gaps.
- Develop and maintain dashboards that monitor key performance indicators such as on‑time delivery, freight cost per TEU, and inventory turnover.
- Collaborate with the operations team to design process improvements that reduce lead times and enhance cargo handling efficiency.
- Support demand forecasting activities by integrating market intelligence, seasonal patterns, and customer order histories.
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations for senior management, highlighting cost‑saving opportunities and risk mitigation strategies.
- Assist in the implementation of digital tools, including transportation management systems (TMS) and advanced analytics platforms.
- Coordinate with customs authorities and port operators to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and smooth cargo clearance.
- Monitor supplier performance, negotiate service level agreements, and recommend corrective actions when standards are not met.
Required Skills
- Strong analytical abilities with proficiency in Excel, SQL, and data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey complex insights to non‑technical stakeholders.
- Solid understanding of logistics concepts, freight forwarding, and supply chain best practices.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
- Attention to detail and a proactive problem‑solving mindset.
- Familiarity with Tanzanian customs regulations and regional trade corridors is an advantage.
Education
A bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, Economics, or a related discipline is required. Candidates with professional certifications such as CPIM, CSCP, or APICS are highly regarded.
Experience
Applicants should have 3‑5 years of experience in supply chain analysis, logistics planning, or a similar role within a multinational environment. Experience in the East African market or with maritime logistics is a distinct plus.
Salary
The compensation package ranges from TZS 1,500,000 to 2,500,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and incentives are also part of the total rewards structure.
