Job Overview
The Downstream Operations Analyst will play a pivotal role in optimizing the performance of TotalEnergies’ downstream assets in the Mtwara region. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the analyst will be responsible for monitoring product flow, analyzing operational data, and recommending process improvements that enhance efficiency, safety, and profitability. Key Responsibilities
- Monitor daily throughput of crude and refined products at the Mtwara terminal and generate performance reports.
- Analyze operational data to identify bottlenecks, forecast demand, and propose corrective actions.
- Coordinate with supply chain, maintenance, and safety teams to ensure seamless product handling.
- Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) for terminal efficiency, inventory accuracy, and safety compliance.
- Prepare monthly operational dashboards for senior management and external regulators.
- Support the implementation of digital tools for real‑time monitoring and predictive maintenance.
- Assist in the preparation of budget forecasts and cost‑benefit analyses for operational projects.
- Ensure adherence to environmental, health, and safety (EHS) standards in all downstream activities.
Required Skills
- Strong analytical abilities with proficiency in Excel, Power BI, or similar data visualization tools.
- Knowledge of downstream oil & gas processes, including storage, blending, and distribution.
- Excellent communication skills for interfacing with internal teams and external partners.
- Problem‑solving mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Familiarity with Tanzanian regulatory frameworks governing petroleum products.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline is required. Advanced certifications in process optimization, data analytics, or project management are considered an advantage.
Experience
Applicants must have 3‑5 years of relevant experience in downstream operations, refinery logistics, or a similar role within the oil & gas sector. Experience with international oil companies or large‑scale energy projects is highly desirable.
Salary
The compensation package ranges from SSP 2,500,000 to SSP 4,000,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based bonuses and allowances.
