Job Overview
We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Sustainable Urban Planner to join our team in Shinyanga, Tanzania. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical assistance to local authorities and stakeholders in the development of sustainable urban planning policies and strategies.
The Sustainable Urban Planner will work closely with our team to identify and address the challenges facing urban areas in Tanzania, and to promote the adoption of sustainable urban planning practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical assistance to local authorities and stakeholders in the development of sustainable urban planning policies and strategies
- Conduct research and analysis on urban planning issues and trends in Tanzania
- Develop and implement sustainable urban planning projects and programs
- Build capacity of local authorities and stakeholders in sustainable urban planning
- Collaborate with other UN agencies and partners to promote sustainable urban development
Required Skills
- Master’s degree in Urban Planning or related field
- At least 8 years of experience in urban planning, with a focus on sustainable urban development
- Proven track record of providing technical assistance to local authorities and stakeholders
- Excellent research and analytical skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a team environment
Education
The successful candidate will have a Master’s degree in Urban Planning or a related field from a recognized university.
Experience
The successful candidate will have at least 8 years of experience in urban planning, with a focus on sustainable urban development. Experience working with local authorities and stakeholders is highly desirable.
Salary
The salary for this position is 150,000 – 250,000 SSP per month, depending on experience.
