Job Overview
The Quality Assurance Manager will lead Nestlé Tanzania’s quality assurance initiatives at the Mtwara manufacturing plant. This senior role is responsible for ensuring that all products meet stringent internal standards as well as national and international regulatory requirements. The manager will collaborate with production, R&D, supply chain, and regulatory affairs teams to embed a culture of continuous improvement and risk mitigation. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive quality management systems (QMS) aligned with ISO 22000, HACCP, and local Tanzania Food Safety standards.
- Lead internal and external audits, ensuring corrective actions are identified, tracked, and closed within defined timelines.
- Oversee product testing, microbiological analysis, and sensory evaluation to guarantee compliance with specifications.
- Collaborate with R&D to validate new product formulations and ensure scalability without compromising quality.
- Train and mentor cross‑functional teams on quality principles, GMP, and best practices.
- Analyze quality data trends, generate actionable insights, and drive continuous improvement projects.
- Manage supplier qualification and monitoring programs to ensure raw material integrity.
- Prepare and present quality performance reports to senior leadership and regulatory bodies.
Required Skills
- In‑depth knowledge of food safety regulations, ISO standards, and HACCP principles.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with a data‑driven mindset.
- Excellent communication skills for interfacing with internal teams, suppliers, and auditors.
- Leadership experience in managing multidisciplinary teams.
- Proficiency in quality management software and statistical tools (e.g., Minitab, SPC).
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight production schedules.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, or a related discipline is required. A Master’s degree or professional certifications such as CQE (Certified Quality Engineer) or HACCP Practitioner are highly desirable.
Experience
At least five (5) years of progressive experience in quality assurance within the food and beverage manufacturing sector, with a minimum of two (2) years in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
Salary
The competitive remuneration package ranges from SSP 2,500,000 to SSP 4,000,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based bonuses, health insurance, and pension contributions.
