Job Overview
The Logistics Operations Manager will lead the planning, execution, and optimization of freight movements through the Dodoma hub. Reporting to the Regional Operations Director, the role is responsible for ensuring timely, cost‑effective, and compliant transportation of goods for a portfolio of domestic and international clients. This position plays a pivotal role in enhancing DHL’s service reliability, driving process improvements, and fostering strong relationships with carriers, customs authorities, and internal stakeholders. Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of inbound and outbound shipments, ensuring adherence to service level agreements and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and implement operational strategies to improve transit times, reduce costs, and enhance customer satisfaction.
- Coordinate with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and local carriers to resolve bottlenecks and ensure smooth clearance processes.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on‑time delivery, freight cost variance, and incident rates, and report findings to senior management.
- Lead a team of supervisors, coordinators, and support staff, providing coaching, performance feedback, and career development opportunities.
- Manage the allocation of resources, including equipment, warehouse space, and personnel, to meet fluctuating demand.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, local regulations, and DHL’s internal policies.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.
- Collaborate with sales and customer service teams to align operational capabilities with market demands.
- Prepare and present operational reports, forecasts, and budget proposals.
Required Skills

- In‑depth knowledge of Tanzanian customs regulations, freight documentation, and international trade compliance.

Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) or Lean Six Sigma Green Belt are highly desirable.
Experience
Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in logistics operations, with at least two (2) years in a supervisory or managerial capacity. Experience within an international freight forwarding environment or a multinational logistics company is preferred.
Salary
The compensation package ranges from SSP 1,500,000 to SSP 2,500,000 per annum, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based bonuses, health insurance, and a retirement savings scheme.
