Education
I earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, where I learned about the basic building blocks of matter and how different chemicals react with each other. During my studies, I gained hands-on experience in laboratory work, including testing, analyzing, and handling chemicals safely. I also learned how to use scientific instruments such as GC-MS, HPLC, UV-vis Spectrophotometer and follow standard procedures to get accurate results. The program helped me develop problem solving skills and understand how chemistry is used in real life, such as in food production, medicines, cleaning products, and industrial processes. It also taught me how to record results properly, work carefully, and make sure products meet quality and safety standards.
Work & Experience
As a Quality Control Chemist at East Coast Oils and Fats Limited, I am responsible for ensuring that raw materials, in-process products, and finished products meet company specifications and Tanzania Bureau of Standards (TBS) requirements. I conduct laboratory analyses on edible oils, soaps, margarine, detergents, imported crude oils, boiler water, and fuel samples using standard analytical methods. I also monitor Vitamin A fortification levels in cooking oil, prepare laboratory reagents, calibrate analytical instruments, and maintain accurate quality records to support regulatory compliance. In addition, I collaborate closely with production, refinery, and filling departments to investigate quality issues, improve manufacturing processes, and minimize product defects. My role also includes maintaining laboratory equipment, implementing safety procedures, collecting production samples, and preparing daily quality reports that support efficient factory operations and continuous product improvement.
At Eco Consumer Products Limited, I worked as a Quality Control Chemist responsible for monitoring the production of cosmetics, detergents, and agricultural products such as Foliar Super Grow Booster. I ensured that raw materials, production processes, and finished products complied with quality standards by conducting routine inspections and laboratory testing throughout the manufacturing process. I also supervised production and packaging activities, identified quality deviations, implemented corrective actions, and coordinated workflow improvements that enhanced production efficiency while significantly reducing product defects and customer complaints. This role strengthened my experience in quality assurance, manufacturing supervision, and process optimization.
During my industrial training at the Government Chemist Laboratory Authority, I gained practical experience in forensic and analytical chemistry. My responsibilities included receiving, preparing, and analyzing biological and chemical samples using laboratory instruments and standard operating procedures. I participated in laboratory analyses while maintaining strict quality assurance and documentation standards. I also learned proper sample handling, storage, and chain-of-custody procedures to prevent contamination and ensure reliable analytical results. This experience enhanced my skills in laboratory safety, toxicological analysis, analytical instrumentation, and scientific reporting while working in a highly regulated laboratory environment
At Kondiki Milk Processing Plant, I supported quality control activities throughout dairy processing operations. My duties included testing raw milk for quality parameters, monitoring processing conditions, inspecting finished dairy products, and ensuring compliance with food safety and hygiene standards. I also assisted in the production of cheese, butter, and yogurt while maintaining product consistency. Additionally, I monitored milk handling and storage procedures to minimize spoilage and product losses. This role strengthened my understanding of dairy processing, food quality management, microbiological safety, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), while developing practical skills in laboratory testing and production quality control.
