Job Overview
The Agricultural Logistics Planner will play a pivotal role in designing, coordinating, and optimizing the movement of agricultural commodities from farm to market. Reporting to the Logistics Manager, you will collaborate with farmers, transport providers, warehouses, and internal stakeholders to ensure timely, cost‑effective, and quality‑assured delivery of products. This role is essential for supporting Cargill’s mission to enhance food security while maintaining high standards of efficiency and sustainability. Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute end‑to‑end logistics plans for agricultural commodities, including grain, oilseeds, and livestock feed.
- Coordinate with farmers, transport carriers, and warehouse operators to schedule pickups, deliveries, and storage.
- Monitor key performance indicators such as on‑time delivery, cost per ton, and product integrity, providing regular reports to senior management.
- Identify bottlenecks and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
- Ensure compliance with local regulations, customs requirements, and Cargill’s internal policies.
- Collaborate with the procurement and sales teams to align logistics activities with market demand and contract obligations.
- Utilize logistics software and data analytics tools to forecast demand, optimize routes, and manage inventory levels.
- Maintain strong relationships with external partners, negotiating rates and service level agreements.
- Support sustainability initiatives by promoting eco‑friendly transport options and reducing carbon footprint.
Required Skills
- Proven expertise in logistics planning, preferably within the agricultural sector.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, with proficiency in Excel and logistics management systems.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills to manage stakeholder relationships.
- Knowledge of Tanzanian transport regulations, customs procedures, and agricultural commodity handling.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to safety and quality standards.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Agriculture, Business Administration, or a related discipline is required. Relevant certifications such as Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) or Certified Logistics Professional (CLP) are advantageous.
Experience
Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in logistics planning, supply chain coordination, or agricultural commodity management. Experience with route optimization software and data‑driven decision making is highly preferred.
Salary
The position offers a competitive salary range of SSP 1,500,000 to 2,500,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Additional performance‑based incentives may be provided.
