Job Overview
The Construction Project Engineer will lead the planning, design, and execution of construction projects in the Tabora region, ensuring compliance with technical specifications, budgetary constraints, and timeline targets. Reporting to the Project Manager, you will coordinate multidisciplinary teams, manage subcontractors, and liaise with local authorities to secure permits and approvals. Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and cost estimates for construction activities.
- Supervise on‑site engineering work, ensuring adherence to design drawings, specifications, and safety regulations.
- Coordinate with architects, civil engineers, procurement, and quality assurance teams to streamline project delivery.
- Monitor progress, prepare regular status reports, and implement corrective actions to mitigate delays.
- Manage relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and local government agencies to secure necessary permits and resources.
- Conduct risk assessments and enforce mitigation strategies to protect personnel and assets.
- Ensure all project documentation is accurate, up‑to‑date, and compliant with corporate and regulatory standards.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in civil engineering software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Primavera P6.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with a focus on cost‑effective solutions.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- In‑depth knowledge of Tanzanian construction codes, standards, and environmental regulations.
- Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in high‑pressure environments.
- Fluency in English and Swahili, both written and spoken.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as PMP, PE, or equivalent are highly desirable and will be considered an advantage during the selection process.
Experience
Applicants must have a minimum of five to seven years of progressive experience in construction engineering, with a proven track record of managing large‑scale infrastructure projects in East Africa or similar markets. Experience in road construction, bridge works, or urban development projects is particularly relevant.
Salary
The compensation package ranges from SSP 2,500,000 to SSP 4,000,000 per month, commensurate with experience, qualifications, and performance. The package includes performance‑based bonuses, health insurance, and pension contributions.
