Job Overview
This role is ideal for a dynamic individual passionate about cultural preservation and community engagement. The Cultural Event Coordinator will design, organize, and execute events that promote Songea’s rich cultural heritage while fostering intercultural dialogue. This position supports Cultural Survival’s mission to create platforms for marginalized voices through creative and educational initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and execute cultural festivals, workshops, and exhibitions in collaboration with local communities.
- Develop event budgets, timelines, and logistics coordination.
- Engage with Indigenous leaders and cultural stakeholders to ensure authentic representation.
- Manage partnerships with local artists, NGOs, and government bodies.
- Document event outcomes and evaluate impact through surveys and reports.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in event planning and cultural project management.
- Strong understanding of Tanzanian cultural traditions and community dynamics.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Proficiency in budgeting and resource allocation.
- Fluency in Swahili and English.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Cultural Studies, Event Management, Anthropology, or related field. Advanced degrees or certifications in cultural heritage management are advantageous.
Experience
3-5 years in cultural event coordination, community engagement, or similar roles. Experience working with Indigenous or rural communities is preferred.
Salary
2,500,000 – 3,500,000 TSH annually, with performance-based incentives.
