Job Overview
This role involves designing and implementing smart city frameworks for Arusha’s expanding urban zones. The consultant will collaborate with municipal authorities, tech partners, and community stakeholders to integrate IoT systems, sustainable mobility solutions, and data-driven governance models. The position is ideal for professionals passionate about urban innovation and cross-sector collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct feasibility studies for smart infrastructure projects (e.g., smart grids, waste management systems)
- Develop urban planning strategies aligned with UN Sustainable Development Goals
- Coordinate with local governments to secure regulatory approvals
- Lead workshops with community leaders to identify civic needs
- Monitor and evaluate urban development KPIs using GIS tools
Required Skills
- Expertise in urban planning software (ArcGIS, AutoCAD)
- Knowledge of smart city technologies (IoT, AI, big data analytics)
- Strong stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills
- Fluency in Swahili and English
- Project management certification (PMP or equivalent)
Education
Master’s Degree in Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, or Environmental Design. Additional certifications in Smart City Planning are advantageous.
Experience
3-5 years in urban development projects, with demonstrable experience in East Africa. Prior work with municipal governments or international development agencies is preferred.
Salary
3,500,000 – 4,500,000 SSP annually, with performance-based bonuses.
