Job Overview
Caterpillar Inc. Tanzania is seeking a qualified Heavy Equipment Maintenance Supervisor to oversee the repair, maintenance, and optimization of heavy machinery used in mining and construction operations. This role is critical to ensuring equipment reliability, safety, and productivity across Caterpillar’s projects in Tabora. The ideal candidate will lead a team of technicians, implement preventive maintenance strategies, and collaborate with project managers to meet operational goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise daily maintenance and repair activities for heavy equipment (e.g., excavators, bulldozers, haul trucks).
- Conduct inspections to identify mechanical issues and schedule timely repairs.
- Manage inventory of spare parts and tools to ensure operational continuity.
- Train and mentor maintenance technicians on safety protocols and equipment handling.
- Collaborate with project managers to align maintenance schedules with project timelines.
- Document maintenance records and generate performance reports.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in heavy equipment maintenance and supervision.
- Strong technical knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and mechanical systems.
- Leadership and team management capabilities.
- Problem-solving skills for troubleshooting complex equipment failures.
- Familiarity with Caterpillar equipment and diagnostic tools.
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
Education
Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field. Certifications in equipment operation or safety management are advantageous.
Experience
3–5 years of hands-on experience in heavy equipment maintenance, preferably in mining or construction environments. Supervisory experience is required.
Salary
3,500,000 – 4,500,000 TSH per month, depending on experience and qualifications.
