Job Overview
The Petroleum Geologist will be responsible for the geological evaluation of potential oil and gas prospects in Tanzania. This will involve the interpretation of geological and geophysical data, the identification of potential exploration targets, and the development of drilling proposals. The successful candidate will have a strong background in geology and a proven track record of success in exploration and production. They will be able to work effectively in a team environment and will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced geologist to join our team in Bukoba. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the geology of Tanzania and will be able to apply this knowledge to the identification of potential oil and gas prospects. They will be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and will be able to prioritize tasks and manage their time effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret geological and geophysical data to identify potential oil and gas prospects
- Develop drilling proposals and present these to senior management
- Work effectively in a team environment to achieve common goals
- Communicate complex geological concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Manage and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines
Required Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology or related field
- 5 years of experience in the oil and gas industry
- Strong understanding of geological and geophysical principles
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
Education
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Geology or a related field. A postgraduate degree in a relevant field would be an advantage.
Experience
The successful candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, with a proven track record of success in exploration and production.
Salary
The salary for this position will be Tanzanian Shillings 5,000,000 – 10,000,000 per annum, depending on experience.
