Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Environmental Scientist to join our team in Mbeya, Tanzania. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading conservation projects, conducting research, and developing strategies to protect and restore natural habitats.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in environmental science, conservation biology, or a related field, and at least 5 years of experience in a similar role. They will be passionate about conservation, have excellent communication and project management skills, and be able to work effectively in a team environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead conservation projects, including developing project proposals, conducting fieldwork, and coordinating with stakeholders
- Conduct research on environmental issues, including climate change, deforestation, and species extinction
- Develop strategies to protect and restore natural habitats, including developing conservation plans and monitoring progress
- Collaborate with local communities, governments, and other stakeholders to promote sustainable development and conservation
- Manage and supervise a team of conservation staff, including providing training and guidance
Required Skills
- Master’s degree in Environmental Science or related field
- At least 5 years of experience in a similar role
- Strong background in conservation biology, ecology, or a related field
- Excellent communication and project management skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Fluency in English and Swahili
Education
