Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Environmental Impact Specialist to join our team in Mbeya, Tanzania. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing the environmental impact of our conservation projects and ensuring that they are implemented in a sustainable and responsible manner.
The Environmental Impact Specialist will work closely with our conservation team to develop and implement environmental impact assessments, conduct field research, and collaborate with local communities to ensure that our projects are aligned with their needs and priorities.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team of environmental professionals and contribute to the conservation of Tanzania’s natural resources.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct environmental impact assessments for conservation projects
- Develop and implement environmental management plans
- Collaborate with local communities to ensure that conservation projects are aligned with their needs and priorities
- Conduct field research and data collection
- Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and local communities
Required Skills
- Master’s degree in Environmental Science or related field
- 8-12 years of experience in environmental conservation or a related field
- Strong knowledge of environmental impact assessment methodologies and tools
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with diverse stakeholders
Education
The successful candidate will hold a Master’s degree in Environmental Science or a related field. A Ph.D. in Environmental Science or a related field is an added advantage.
Experience
The successful candidate will have 8-12 years of experience in environmental conservation or a related field. Experience working in a developing country context is highly desirable.
Salary
The salary for this position is 600,000 – 900,000 SSP per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
