Job Overview
The Senior Hydrogeologist will lead technical assessments and groundwater modeling projects to support large-scale water supply initiatives. This role involves managing complex data sets, supervising field teams, and advising on the sustainable management of groundwater resources. Key Responsibilities
- Lead comprehensive groundwater investigations and aquifer characterization studies.
- Develop and implement advanced groundwater flow and solute transport models.
- Supervise drilling operations and borehole construction to ensure quality standards.
- Provide technical guidance to local government authorities on water resource management.
- Conduct environmental impact assessments related to groundwater extraction.
- Manage field technicians and laboratory analysis of water quality samples.
Required Skills
- Advanced proficiency in groundwater modeling software such as MODFLOW or FEFLOW.
- Expertise in geophysical survey techniques including electrical resistivity imaging.
- Strong project management skills with experience in multi-stakeholder coordination.
- Excellent technical report writing and data visualization capabilities.
- Deep understanding of Tanzanian water sector regulations and standards.
Education
A minimum of a Master of Science in Hydrogeology, Geology, or Water Resources Engineering is required. A PhD in a related scientific field will be highly preferred for this senior-level position.
Experience
Candidates must possess at least seven years of professional experience in hydrogeological investigations, with a proven track record in managing large-scale water projects. Experience working in East Africa or with international NGOs is a significant advantage. You should have extensive experience in field-based data collection and laboratory management.
