Job Overview
The Infrastructure Project Engineer will play a pivotal role in planning, designing, and overseeing the execution of large‑scale construction projects within the Dodoma region. Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, the incumbent will coordinate multidisciplinary teams, ensure compliance with local regulations, and drive project milestones to successful completion. This position offers a unique platform to influence the development of critical infrastructure that supports Tanzania’s Vision 2025 and contributes to the nation’s employment landscape.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the technical design and engineering calculations for road, bridge, and utility projects.
- Develop detailed project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation plans.
- Coordinate with architects, contractors, and government officials to secure permits and approvals.
- Monitor construction progress, conduct site inspections, and enforce quality control standards.
- Prepare and present regular progress reports, risk assessments, and mitigation strategies to senior management.
- Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations throughout the project lifecycle.
- Utilize project management software and BIM tools to streamline workflow and documentation.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in civil engineering design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and STAAD.Pro.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with a focus on cost‑effective solutions.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
- Knowledge of Tanzanian construction codes, standards, and procurement processes.
- Familiarity with sustainable construction practices and green building principles.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a closely related discipline from an accredited university is required. Professional registration with the Engineers Registration Board (ERB) of Tanzania is highly desirable.
Experience
Minimum of five (5) years of hands‑on experience in infrastructure project engineering, preferably within the East African construction market. Demonstrated experience managing projects valued at USD 5 million or more is an advantage.
Salary
The compensation package ranges from TZS 1,500,000 to TZS 2,500,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and allowances for travel, accommodation, and professional development are included.
