Job Overview
The Chief Data Scientist will lead IBM Tanzania’s data strategy, driving the design and implementation of advanced analytics solutions that empower clients to make data‑driven decisions. Reporting directly to the Head of Data & Analytics, this senior role involves shaping the data science roadmap, overseeing a multidisciplinary team of data engineers, analysts, and junior scientists, and collaborating with sales and consulting units to translate business challenges into innovative AI models. Key Responsibilities
- Define and execute the data science vision, aligning it with IBM’s global AI strategy and local market needs.
- Lead the end‑to‑end development of predictive, prescriptive, and descriptive models using machine learning, deep learning, and statistical techniques.
- Mentor and grow a high‑performing team of data scientists, ensuring continuous skill development and knowledge sharing.
- Collaborate with client stakeholders to understand business objectives, translate them into analytical solutions, and present actionable insights.
- Establish robust data governance frameworks, model validation processes, and ethical AI guidelines.
- Drive innovation by exploring emerging technologies such as quantum computing, edge AI, and federated learning.
- Represent IBM Tanzania at industry conferences, workshops, and academic forums to showcase thought leadership.
- Manage project budgets, timelines, and resource allocation to deliver high‑quality outcomes.
Required Skills
- Expertise in Python, R, Scala, and SQL for data manipulation and model development.
- Proficiency with big data platforms such as Hadoop, Spark, and Kafka.
- Hands‑on experience with cloud services (IBM Cloud, AWS, Azure) for scalable AI deployments.
- Deep understanding of machine learning algorithms, neural networks, NLP, and computer vision.
- Strong statistical background and ability to conduct rigorous hypothesis testing.

Education

Experience

Salary
