Job Overview

The Data Center Operations Engineer will be responsible for the day‑to‑day management of AWS’s Iringa data center facilities. Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain server hardware, storage arrays, and networking equipment to ensure optimal performance.
• Manage power distribution units (PDUs), uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), and cooling infrastructure, performing regular capacity planning.
• Respond to alerts and incidents, conduct root‑cause analysis, and implement corrective actions within defined service level agreements (SLAs).
• Coordinate with security teams to enforce physical and logical security controls, including access management and surveillance systems.
• Document operational procedures, run‑books, and change management records in compliance with AWS standards.
• Participate in on‑call rotation and support after‑hours maintenance windows.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to deploy new hardware, conduct firmware upgrades, and test disaster recovery scenarios.
• Analyze performance metrics and generate reports to drive efficiency improvements and cost optimization.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of data center infrastructure components: servers, networking, power, and cooling.
• Proficiency with monitoring tools such as Nagios, Zabbix, or AWS CloudWatch.
• Experience with Linux/Unix operating systems and scripting languages (Python, Bash).
• Understanding of ITIL or similar service management frameworks.
• Excellent problem‑solving abilities and the capacity to work under pressure.
• Effective communication skills for cross‑team collaboration and stakeholder reporting.
• Commitment to safety protocols and regulatory compliance.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline is required. Experience
