Job Overview

The Network Operations Engineer will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and maintaining the core network infrastructure that powers Vodacom Tanzania’s services. Key Responsibilities

• Monitor real‑time network performance using advanced NOC tools and dashboards.
• Troubleshoot and resolve high‑severity network incidents, minimizing downtime.
• Plan and execute network upgrades, migrations, and expansions in coordination with vendors.
• Conduct capacity planning and performance analysis to anticipate future demand.
• Implement and enforce security policies to protect network integrity.
• Document network configurations, procedures, and incident reports for knowledge sharing.
• Collaborate with radio, core, and transport teams to ensure end‑to‑end service quality.
• Participate in on‑call rotation to provide 24/7 support for critical network operations.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of IP networking, MPLS, LTE, and emerging 5G technologies.
• Proficiency with network monitoring tools such as NetAct, OSS, or equivalent.
• Hands‑on experience with routing protocols (OSPF, BGP) and switching technologies.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Effective communication skills for cross‑team collaboration.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
• Familiarity with network security concepts and best practices.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as CCNP, JNCIP, or equivalent are highly desirable and demonstrate a commitment to technical excellence.

Experience

Applicants should have 3 to 5 years of hands‑on experience in network operations, preferably within a large telecom environment. Experience with large‑scale deployments, network optimization, and incident management is essential for success in this role.
