Job Overview
The Network Operations Engineer will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and maintaining the core network infrastructure that powers Vodacom Tanzania’s services. Reporting to the Head of Network Operations, the incumbent will ensure optimal network performance, reliability, and security, supporting the company’s mission to deliver seamless connectivity to its customers. Key Responsibilities
- Monitor real‑time network performance using advanced NOC tools and dashboards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve high‑severity network incidents, minimizing downtime.
- Plan and execute network upgrades, migrations, and expansions in coordination with vendors.
- Conduct capacity planning and performance analysis to anticipate future demand.
- Implement and enforce security policies to protect network integrity.
- Document network configurations, procedures, and incident reports for knowledge sharing.
- Collaborate with radio, core, and transport teams to ensure end‑to‑end service quality.
- Participate in on‑call rotation to provide 24/7 support for critical network operations.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of IP networking, MPLS, LTE, and emerging 5G technologies.
- Proficiency with network monitoring tools such as NetAct, OSS, or equivalent.
- Hands‑on experience with routing protocols (OSPF, BGP) and switching technologies.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
- Effective communication skills for cross‑team collaboration.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
- Familiarity with network security concepts and best practices.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as CCNP, JNCIP, or equivalent are highly desirable and demonstrate a commitment to technical excellence.
Experience
Applicants should have 3 to 5 years of hands‑on experience in network operations, preferably within a large telecom environment. Experience with large‑scale deployments, network optimization, and incident management is essential for success in this role.
Salary
