Job Overview

The Freight Forwarding Operations Manager will lead the day‑to‑day operational activities of DHL’s freight forwarding division in Dar es Salaam. This role is responsible for ensuring efficient cargo handling, compliance with international trade regulations, and delivering superior service levels to clients. Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee end‑to‑end freight forwarding operations, including air, sea, and road shipments.
  • Ensure compliance with customs regulations, import/export documentation, and international trade laws.
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on‑time delivery, cost efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
  • Lead, coach, and evaluate a team of freight coordinators, customs brokers, and warehouse staff.
  • Collaborate with sales and customer service teams to align operational capacity with market demand.
  • Identify and implement process improvements using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Manage relationships with carriers, agents, and local authorities to secure competitive rates and reliable service.
  • Prepare operational reports and present insights to senior management.
  • Ensure health, safety, and security standards are upheld across all handling facilities.

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of freight forwarding, customs clearance, and international logistics.

Salary
