Job Overview

The Senior Grid Operations Analyst will play a pivotal role in monitoring, analyzing, and optimizing the performance of TANESCO’s transmission network in the Southern Highlands region. Reporting to the Grid Operations Manager, the incumbent will leverage advanced analytical tools, real‑time data, and forecasting models to ensure grid stability, minimize losses, and support the integration of new generation assets. Key Responsibilities

• Monitor real‑time grid performance using SCADA and EMS platforms, identifying anomalies and initiating corrective actions.
• Develop and maintain load forecasting models to predict demand patterns across residential, commercial, and industrial sectors.
• Analyze outage data, conduct root‑cause investigations, and recommend preventive measures to improve reliability.
• Collaborate with transmission planning teams to assess the impact of new projects, upgrades, and renewable integration on system stability.
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports for senior management and regulatory bodies.
• Coordinate with field engineers and maintenance crews to schedule and prioritize grid reinforcement activities.
• Support the implementation of smart grid technologies and advanced metering infrastructure.
• Ensure compliance with national grid codes, safety standards, and environmental regulations.

Required Skills

• Proficiency in power system analysis software such as PSS®E, PowerWorld, or DIgSILENT PowerFactory.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with a data‑driven mindset.
• Excellent communication skills for reporting findings to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Experience with SCADA, EMS, and GIS tools for grid monitoring.
• Knowledge of Tanzanian grid codes, renewable integration standards, and energy market dynamics.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a closely related discipline is required. A Master’s degree or professional certifications such as CEM (Certified Energy Manager) or P.E. Experience
