Job Overview

The Sustainability Procurement Specialist will lead Nestlé Tanzania’s efforts to embed sustainability criteria into the entire procurement lifecycle. Reporting to the Procurement Manager, the role involves developing green sourcing strategies, evaluating suppliers against environmental and social standards, and collaborating with cross‑functional teams to ensure compliance with Nestlé’s Responsible Sourcing Code. Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement sustainability criteria for raw material and packaging procurement.
• Conduct supplier assessments, audits, and risk analyses focusing on environmental impact, labor practices, and ethical standards.
• Collaborate with the R&D, Marketing, and Legal departments to align sourcing decisions with product innovation and regulatory requirements.
• Develop and maintain a database of approved sustainable suppliers and monitor performance metrics.
• Lead training workshops for internal stakeholders and external suppliers on Nestlé’s sustainability expectations.
• Prepare quarterly reports on sustainability KPIs, cost savings, and compliance for senior management.
• Support the development of circular economy initiatives, such as recyclable packaging and waste reduction programs.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of sustainable procurement frameworks (e.g., ISO 20400, UN Global Compact).
• Excellent analytical and negotiation skills with a focus on long‑term supplier partnerships.
• Proficiency in data analysis tools and procurement software.
• Effective communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Fluency in English and Swahili, both written and spoken.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Environmental Science, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as Certified Sustainable Procurement Professional (CSPP) or equivalent are advantageous.

Experience

Minimum of five years of experience in procurement, preferably within the food & beverage sector, with a demonstrated track record of implementing sustainability initiatives. Experience working with local Tanzanian suppliers and familiarity with the regulatory landscape of Tanzania is highly valued.

Salary

The successful candidate will receive a competitive monthly salary ranging from 2,500,000 to 3,500,000 SSP, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and benefits are part of the total compensation package.
