Job Overview

The AI Ethics Specialist will play a pivotal role in shaping IBM Tanzania’s approach to responsible AI deployment. Reporting to the Head of Ethics & Compliance, you will develop frameworks, conduct impact assessments, and advise cross‑functional teams on ethical considerations for AI projects. This role ensures that all AI solutions comply with local regulations, international standards, and IBM’s internal policies. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain AI ethics guidelines, policies, and best‑practice documentation.
  • Conduct ethical risk assessments for AI models and data pipelines.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, engineers, and product managers to embed ethical considerations throughout the AI lifecycle.
  • Monitor compliance with Tanzanian data protection laws and international AI standards.
  • Provide training and workshops on AI ethics for internal stakeholders.
  • Engage with external regulators, NGOs, and academic institutions on responsible AI initiatives.
  • Prepare reports and recommendations for senior leadership and clients.

Required Skills

  • Deep understanding of AI technologies, machine learning, and data governance.
  • Strong knowledge of ethical frameworks such as IEEE Ethically Aligned Design and EU AI Act.
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking abilities.
  • Effective communication skills for diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency in policy drafting and impact assessment methodologies.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.

Education

A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Ethics, Law, Philosophy, or a related field is required. Relevant certifications in AI governance, data privacy, or compliance are highly desirable.

Experience

Minimum of five years of professional experience in AI ethics, policy development, compliance, or a related discipline. Experience within a multinational technology firm or consultancy is preferred.

Salary

The position offers a competitive salary range of SSP 2,500,000 to SSP 3,500,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and benefits are included.
