Job Overview

The Data Privacy Officer will lead TBL’s data protection program, ensuring compliance with Tanzanian data protection regulations, the African Union’s data privacy framework, and relevant international standards such as GDPR. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive data privacy framework aligned with local and international regulations.
• Conduct privacy impact assessments (PIAs) for new projects, products, and services.
• Monitor and audit data processing activities to ensure compliance and mitigate risks.
• Provide guidance and training to employees on data protection best practices.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for data subjects and regulatory authorities.
• Lead incident response efforts for data breaches, including investigation, reporting, and remediation.
• Collaborate with IT security teams to integrate privacy controls into system architectures.
• Prepare and submit regular compliance reports to senior management and the board.

Required Skills

• In‑depth knowledge of Tanzanian Data Protection Act, GDPR, and other relevant privacy laws.

Education

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in Law, Information Security, Computer Science, or a related discipline. Professional certifications such as CIPP/E, CIPP/A, CIPM, or ISO 27701 Lead Implementer are highly desirable and demonstrate a commitment to excellence in data privacy.

Experience

Candidates must have a minimum of five years of hands‑on experience managing data privacy programs within medium to large organizations. Experience in the beverage, consumer goods, or manufacturing sectors is advantageous, as is prior exposure to multinational corporate environments.

Salary
