Job Overview
The E‑Commerce Operations Lead will spearhead the end‑to‑end management of Shoprite Tanzania’s online sales channel, ensuring efficient order processing, inventory coordination, logistics integration and customer satisfaction. Reporting to the Head of Digital Retail, the role combines strategic planning with hands‑on execution, driving growth in the highly competitive e‑commerce landscape. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement operational strategies for the e‑commerce platform, optimizing order fulfilment cycles and delivery performance.
- Coordinate with warehouse and logistics partners to ensure accurate inventory levels, timely dispatch and last‑mile delivery efficiency.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as order accuracy, delivery time, return rates and customer satisfaction, providing actionable insights to senior management.
- Lead cross‑functional projects to integrate new technologies, payment gateways and third‑party marketplaces.
- Manage a team of operations supervisors, analysts and customer service representatives, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Oversee compliance with regulatory standards, data protection policies and consumer rights legislation.
- Collaborate with marketing to align promotional campaigns with operational capacity, ensuring seamless execution.
- Prepare regular reports on sales performance, operational costs and process efficiencies for executive review.
Required Skills

- Proven leadership experience in e‑commerce or retail operations.

Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Information Systems or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as PMP, CSCP or relevant e‑commerce qualifications are advantageous.
Experience
Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in e‑commerce operations, retail logistics or a similar field, with at least two (2) years in a supervisory or lead role. Demonstrated success in scaling online sales and improving operational efficiency is essential.
Salary
The compensation package ranges from SSP 2,500,000 to SSP 4,000,000 per annum, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based bonuses and other incentives.
