Job Overview

The Environmental Economist will be responsible for providing technical assistance to governments and other stakeholders in the design and implementation of policies and programs aimed at promoting sustainable agriculture and rural development.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in economics and experience in working with governments and other stakeholders in the development of policies and programs related to agriculture and rural development.

The Environmental Economist will work closely with the IFAD Country Office in Tanzania and with other stakeholders to identify opportunities for improving the sustainability of agriculture and rural development in Tanzania.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical assistance to governments and other stakeholders in the design and implementation of policies and programs aimed at promoting sustainable agriculture and rural development.
  • Conduct research and analysis on the economic and environmental impacts of different agricultural and rural development policies and programs.
  • Develop and implement strategies for improving the sustainability of agriculture and rural development in Tanzania.
  • Work closely with the IFAD Country Office in Tanzania and with other stakeholders to identify opportunities for improving the sustainability of agriculture and rural development in Tanzania.

Required Skills

  • Master’s degree in Economics or related field.
  • At least 8 years of experience in working with governments and other stakeholders in the development of policies and programs related to agriculture and rural development.
  • Strong background in economics and experience in conducting research and analysis on the economic and environmental impacts of different agricultural and rural development policies and programs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a team and to build partnerships with governments, civil society and the private sector.

Education

The successful candidate will have a Master’s degree in Economics or related field.

Experience

The successful candidate will have at least 8 years of experience in working with governments and other stakeholders in the development of policies and programs related to agriculture and rural development.

Salary

The salary for this position is 500,000 – 700,000 SSP per annum.
