Job Overview
This role involves leading conservation initiatives at Zanzibar’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites, ensuring compliance with international preservation standards while promoting community engagement. The Heritage Site Conservation Manager will work closely with local stakeholders, archaeologists, and tourism operators to balance heritage protection with sustainable tourism development.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement conservation strategies for historical sites in Zanzibar.
- Conduct site assessments to identify preservation needs and risks.
- Collaborate with local communities to foster heritage awareness and stewardship.
- Manage budgets and resources for conservation projects.
- Prepare reports for international heritage organizations and government stakeholders.
Required Skills
- Expertise in cultural heritage management frameworks.
- Strong project management and stakeholder coordination abilities.
- Proficiency in GIS mapping for site documentation.

Education

Salary
4,000,000 – 6,000,000 TZS per month, commensurate with experience.
