Job Overview
The Quality Assurance Manager will lead Nestlé Tanzania’s quality systems, ensuring that all products manufactured and distributed from the Mwanza hub meet the highest safety, regulatory and consumer standards. Reporting to the Regional Quality Director, the manager will oversee a multidisciplinary team, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and act as the primary liaison with regulatory authorities. This position plays a critical role in safeguarding brand reputation, supporting market growth, and reinforcing Nestlé’s commitment to excellence. Candidates will be responsible for implementing robust quality frameworks, conducting risk assessments, and fostering a culture of quality throughout the organization. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS) in compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 22000 and local food safety regulations.
- Lead internal and external audits, ensuring corrective actions are identified, tracked and closed effectively.
- Oversee product testing, microbiological analysis, and sensory evaluation to guarantee product integrity.
- Collaborate with Production, R&D, and Supply Chain teams to embed quality by design principles.
- Manage supplier qualification, audits and performance monitoring to ensure raw material compliance.
- Analyze quality data, generate trend reports and drive root‑cause investigations for non‑conformances.
- Mentor and develop the quality assurance team, fostering a proactive quality culture.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting to regulatory bodies, maintaining compliance with Tanzanian Food and Drugs Authority (TFDA) standards.
- Support new product launches by conducting risk assessments and validation studies.
- Promote sustainability initiatives within the quality function, aligning with Nestlé’s environmental goals.
Required Skills
- In‑depth knowledge of food safety standards, HACCP, and ISO certifications.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with a data‑driven mindset.
- Excellent communication skills for cross‑functional collaboration and stakeholder engagement.
- Leadership experience managing multidisciplinary teams in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in quality management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks and meet strict deadlines.
- Fluency in English and Swahili.

Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, Nutrition, or a related discipline is required. A Master’s degree or professional certifications such as CQE (Certified Quality Engineer) or HACCP Lead Auditor are highly desirable.
Experience
Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in quality assurance within the food and beverage industry, with at least two (2) years in a supervisory or managerial role. Experience in a multinational corporation and familiarity with Tanzanian food regulations are essential.
Salary
The successful candidate will receive a competitive monthly salary ranging from SSP 2,500,000 to SSP 4,000,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based incentives and statutory benefits.
