Job Overview

The Quality Assurance Manager will lead TBL’s quality assurance function at the Mwanza brewery, overseeing all aspects of product quality, safety, and regulatory compliance. Reporting directly to the Regional Director of Operations, the role involves developing and implementing robust quality systems, managing audits, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The successful candidate will work closely with production, engineering, and supply chain teams to embed a culture of quality across the facility. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS) in alignment with ISO 9001, ISO 22000, and local regulatory requirements.
  • Lead internal and external audits, including HACCP, GMP, and food safety inspections, ensuring timely corrective actions.
  • Monitor critical control points (CCPs) throughout the brewing process and validate process parameters to guarantee product consistency.
  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to investigate deviations, conduct root‑cause analysis, and implement preventive measures.
  • Manage the sampling, testing, and release of raw materials, in‑process, and finished goods using accredited laboratories.
  • Prepare and present quality performance reports to senior management, highlighting trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with Tanzanian Food and Drugs Authority (TFDA) regulations and international export standards.
  • Mentor and train quality assurance staff, fostering a proactive quality culture.

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of food safety standards, HACCP, GMP, and ISO certifications.
  • Proficiency in statistical process control (SPC) and data analysis tools.
  • Excellent problem‑solving abilities and experience with root‑cause analysis methodologies.
  • Effective communication skills for cross‑functional collaboration and stakeholder management.
  • Leadership experience with the ability to motivate and develop teams.
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks in Tanzania and export markets.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or HACCP Practitioner are highly desirable and will be considered an advantage.

Experience

The ideal candidate will have at least five years of progressive experience in quality assurance within the food and beverage manufacturing sector, with a proven track record of managing audits, leading continuous improvement projects, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
