Job Overview
The Renewable Energy Project Manager will lead the end‑to‑end development of solar power projects in the Lake Victoria region, overseeing feasibility studies, permitting, financing, construction, and commissioning. Reporting to the Head of Project Development, you will coordinate cross‑functional teams, manage external partners, and ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role is critical for advancing TotalEnergies Tanzania’s renewable energy pipeline and supports the country’s ambition to increase renewable electricity generation. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, design, and execution of solar PV projects ranging from 10 MW to 50 MW.
- Conduct site assessments, resource analysis, and financial modeling to determine project viability.
- Secure land rights, permits, and regulatory approvals in collaboration with local authorities and community stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain relationships with EPC contractors, equipment suppliers, financiers, and off‑takers.
- Prepare and present project proposals, business cases, and progress reports to senior management and investors.
- Monitor project schedules, budgets, and risk registers, implementing mitigation strategies as needed.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards throughout the project lifecycle.
- Coordinate with the Operations team for seamless handover and integration of completed assets.
- Promote innovative solutions and continuous improvement to enhance project performance and cost efficiency.
Required Skills
- Strong project management expertise with proven ability to deliver large‑scale renewable energy projects.
- Excellent analytical and financial modeling skills.
- Deep understanding of Tanzanian energy regulations, permitting processes, and grid interconnection requirements.
- Effective communication and negotiation skills for stakeholder engagement.
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) and GIS tools.
- Leadership qualities with the ability to motivate multidisciplinary teams.
- Fluency in English; knowledge of Swahili is an advantage.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Energy Management, or a closely related discipline is required. A Master’s degree or professional certifications such as PMP, CEMP, or a Renewable Energy specialization are highly desirable.
Experience
Minimum of five (5) years of experience managing solar or other renewable energy projects, preferably in East Africa. Demonstrated track record of delivering projects from concept to commercial operation is essential.
Salary
The compensation package ranges from 3,000,000 to 5,000,000 SSP per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based bonuses, health insurance, pension contributions, and other statutory benefits.
