Job Overview
The Construction Project Manager will lead the planning, execution, and delivery of Heineken Tanzania’s new manufacturing plant in Songea. This role involves coordinating multidisciplinary teams, managing budgets, ensuring compliance with local regulations, and delivering the project on time and within scope. The successful candidate will act as the primary liaison between internal stakeholders, external contractors, and government agencies, driving the project forward with a focus on quality, safety, and sustainability. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, schedules, and budgets for the Songea manufacturing facility.
- Lead and coordinate cross‑functional teams including architects, engineers, procurement, and construction contractors.
- Ensure all construction activities comply with Tanzanian building codes, environmental regulations, and Heineken’s internal standards.
- Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies to keep the project on track.
- Manage stakeholder communication, providing regular updates to senior management and external partners.
- Oversee quality control processes, conducting site inspections and ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
- Facilitate procurement of materials and equipment, negotiating contracts to achieve cost‑effective solutions.
- Prepare detailed reports, documentation, and as‑built drawings for project handover.
Required Skills
- Strong leadership and team‑management abilities with a proven track record of delivering large‑scale construction projects.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills, capable of making data‑driven decisions.
- Proficiency in project management software such as MS Project, Primavera, or equivalent.
- Effective communication and negotiation skills, both written and verbal.
- Deep understanding of construction safety standards and environmental best practices.
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing project requirements.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline is required. A Master’s degree or professional certifications such as PMP (Project Management Professional) or CCMP (Certified Construction Manager) are highly desirable.
Experience
Minimum of five (5) years of experience managing construction projects in the manufacturing or industrial sector, preferably within East Africa. Experience with large‑scale plant construction, vendor management, and regulatory compliance is essential.
Salary
The competitive salary range for this role is SSP 2,500,000 to SSP 4,000,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Additional performance‑based incentives may be offered.
