Job Overview

The Data Center Operations Manager will lead the day‑to‑day management of Microsoft’s state‑of‑the‑art data center in Arusha. Reporting to the Regional Infrastructure Director, you will be responsible for ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and security of all hardware, networking, and power systems. Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the data center, including power, cooling, networking, and hardware maintenance.
• Implement and monitor Service Level Agreements (SLAs) to ensure 99.9% uptime and rapid incident resolution.
• Lead a multidisciplinary team of technicians, engineers, and support staff, fostering a culture of safety, efficiency, and continuous learning.
• Coordinate preventive maintenance schedules, capacity planning, and hardware upgrades in line with Microsoft’s growth roadmap.
• Manage relationships with third‑party vendors, contractors, and local authorities to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
• Develop and enforce robust security protocols, including physical access controls, surveillance, and disaster recovery procedures.
• Analyze operational metrics, generate performance reports, and recommend process improvements.
• Support sustainability initiatives by optimizing energy consumption and integrating renewable energy sources where feasible.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of data center infrastructure, including power distribution, cooling systems, and networking equipment.
• Proficiency in monitoring tools such as System Center Operations Manager, Azure Monitor, or equivalent.
• Excellent leadership and team‑building abilities with a focus on mentorship.
• Effective problem‑solving skills and the ability to make data‑driven decisions under pressure.
• Solid understanding of IT security standards (ISO 27001, NIST) and compliance requirements.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline is required. Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, Cisco CCNA/CCNP, or ITIL Foundation are highly desirable.

Experience

Minimum of five (5) years of hands‑on experience managing data center operations, preferably within a large‑scale cloud environment. Prior experience leading technical teams and managing vendor relationships is essential.

Salary

The compensation package ranges from SSP 2,500,000 to SSP 4,000,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based bonuses and comprehensive benefits.
