Job Overview

The Structural Design Engineer will play a pivotal role in designing, analyzing, and optimizing structural components for the company’s cement production facilities, warehouses, and associated infrastructure projects. Reporting to the Head of Engineering, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure that all structural designs meet safety standards, regulatory requirements, and project timelines. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and review structural designs for new cement plants, storage facilities, and ancillary structures.
  • Perform load calculations, finite element analysis, and stability assessments in compliance with Tanzanian building codes.
  • Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and technical reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with civil, mechanical, and electrical engineers to integrate structural solutions into overall project designs.
  • Conduct site visits and inspections to verify construction quality and adherence to design intent.
  • Provide technical support during the procurement of structural steel, concrete, and related materials.
  • Collaborate with the Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) team to ensure designs meet safety and environmental standards.
  • Mentor junior engineers and assist in their professional development.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in structural analysis software such as SAP2000, ETABS, or STAAD.Pro.
  • Strong knowledge of Tanzanian building codes, ISO standards, and international best practices.
  • Excellent problem‑solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills for presenting technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Project management experience with a focus on schedule and cost control.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field from an accredited university is required. Professional registration with the Engineers Registration Board (ERB) of Tanzania is highly desirable.

Experience

Applicants must have 5‑7 years of proven experience in structural design, preferably within the manufacturing, industrial, or infrastructure sectors. Experience with cement plant projects or large‑scale construction in Tanzania is an advantage.

Salary
