Job Overview
WorldFish seeks a dynamic Aquaculture Development Specialist to lead initiatives in Njombe, Tanzania. This role will focus on designing and implementing sustainable aquaculture projects that empower smallholder farmers and promote environmental stewardship. The position offers opportunities to contribute to global food security goals while working in a cross-cultural environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute aquaculture training programs for local communities
- Conduct feasibility studies for new fish farming projects
- Collaborate with government agencies to align initiatives with national aquaculture policies
- Monitor water quality and fish health in project sites
- Prepare technical reports and impact assessments
- Secure funding through grant proposals and partnerships
Required Skills
- Expertise in freshwater aquaculture systems
- Strong project management and stakeholder engagement skills
- Proficiency in data collection and analysis using GIS tools
- Bilingual (English/Swahili) communication abilities
- Experience with community-based development programs
- Knowledge of climate-smart aquaculture practices
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Aquaculture, Environmental Science, or related field
- Master’s Degree preferred
Experience
