We are seeking an experienced Environmental Geologist to join our team in Tanga, Tanzania. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting environmental impact assessments, monitoring and mitigating the environmental effects of our mining operations, and developing and implementing environmental management plans.

Job Overview

The Environmental Geologist will work closely with our operations team to ensure that our mining activities are carried out in a responsible and sustainable manner. The role will involve conducting site visits, collecting and analyzing data, and developing reports and recommendations for improving our environmental performance.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in geology and environmental science, and will be able to demonstrate a high level of technical expertise and analytical skills. They will also be able to communicate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders, and will be able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct environmental impact assessments and monitoring programs to identify and mitigate potential environmental effects of mining operations
  • Develop and implement environmental management plans to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies
  • Collaborate with operations team to ensure that mining activities are carried out in a responsible and sustainable manner
  • Collect and analyze data to inform environmental decision-making and improve environmental performance
  • Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including local communities, government agencies, and NGOs
  • Required Skills
  • Master’s degree in Geology or Environmental Science
  • 8-12 years of experience in environmental geology or a related field
  • Strong technical expertise and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Education

    The successful candidate will have a Master’s degree in Geology or Environmental Science from a recognized university. They will also have a strong background in environmental science and a high level of technical expertise and analytical skills.

    Experience

    The successful candidate will have 8-12 years of experience in environmental geology or a related field. They will have a strong background in conducting environmental impact assessments, monitoring and mitigating the environmental effects of mining operations, and developing and implementing environmental management plans.

    Salary

    The salary for this position will be 600,000 – 900,000 SSP per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
