Job Overview
The Environmental Hydrologist will be responsible for conducting research and providing technical assistance to government agencies, NGOs, and private sector organizations on water management issues. This will include developing and implementing water management plans, conducting hydrological assessments, and providing training and capacity building to stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hydrology, water resources management, and environmental science, as well as excellent communication and project management skills. They will also have experience working in a developing country context and be familiar with the water management challenges facing Tanzania.
The position will be based in Kigoma, Tanzania, and will require frequent travel to other parts of the country. The successful candidate will be expected to work closely with government agencies, NGOs, and private sector organizations to achieve project goals and objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research and provide technical assistance to government agencies, NGOs, and private sector organizations on water management issues.
- Develop and implement water management plans, including hydrological assessments and water resource management strategies.
- Provide training and capacity building to stakeholders on water management and hydrology.
- Work closely with government agencies, NGOs, and private sector organizations to achieve project goals and objectives.
- Conduct fieldwork, including data collection and analysis, and report on findings.
Required Skills
- Master’s degree in Hydrology or related field.
- 8-12 years of experience in water management, hydrology, or environmental science.

Education
The successful candidate will have a Master’s degree in Hydrology or a related field from a recognized university. They will also have a strong background in water resources management, environmental science, and hydrology.

Salary
The salary for this position will be 800,000 – 1,200,000 SSP per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
