Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Monitoring Specialist to join our team in Musoma, Tanzania. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing environmental monitoring programs to assess the impact of our conservation efforts.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in environmental science, with experience in monitoring and assessing the impact of human activities on the environment. They will be able to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

This is a full-time position, based in Musoma, Tanzania. The successful candidate will be required to travel to project sites throughout the country, with occasional travel to other parts of Africa.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement environmental monitoring programs to assess the impact of our conservation efforts
  • Collect and analyze data from field observations, laboratory tests, and remote sensing technologies
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local communities, government agencies, and other stakeholders
  • Provide technical guidance and support to project teams and partners
  • Contribute to the development of project proposals and reports

Required Skills

  • Master’s degree in Environmental Science or related field
  • 5-7 years of experience in environmental monitoring and assessment
  • Strong background in ecology, biology, or a related field
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Fluency in English and Swahili

Education

The successful candidate will have a Master’s degree in Environmental Science or a related field. A Ph.D. in Environmental Science or a related field would be an advantage.

Experience

The successful candidate will have 5-7 years of experience in environmental monitoring and assessment. They will have a strong background in ecology, biology, or a related field, with experience in designing and implementing environmental monitoring programs.

Salary

The salary for this position is 500,000 – 700,000 SSP per annum, depending on experience.
