Job Overview:As an Environmental Sustainability Specialist with The Nature Conservancy, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing sustainable solutions to environmental challenges in Tanzania. You will work closely with our team to design and implement projects that promote sustainable land use, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and protect Tanzania’s natural resources. You will also collaborate with local stakeholders, including government agencies, community groups, and private sector partners, to advance our conservation goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement sustainable land use plans and strategies to reduce deforestation and promote reforestation
- Conduct research and analysis to identify opportunities for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and promoting renewable energy
- Collaborate with local stakeholders to design and implement projects that promote sustainable agriculture and reduce water pollution
- Develop and manage budgets and project plans to ensure effective implementation of conservation projects
- Build and maintain relationships with local government agencies, community groups, and private sector partners to advance conservation goals
Required Skills:
- Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, or related field
- 8-12 years of experience in environmental conservation and sustainability
- Proven track record of developing and implementing sustainable solutions to environmental challenges
- Excellent communication and project management skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and build relationships with local stakeholders
Education:The successful candidate will have a Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, or a related field. A Ph.D. in a related field is an added advantage.
Experience:The ideal candidate will have 8-12 years of experience in environmental conservation and sustainability, with a proven track record of developing and implementing sustainable solutions to environmental challenges.
Salary:The salary for this position is 250,000 – 350,000 SSP per annum, depending on experience.
