Job Overview
ILRI is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Geomatics Specialist to join its team in Morogoro, Tanzania
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical leadership and support to ILRI’s geomatics activities in Tanzania, including the development and implementation of geospatial technologies and tools to support livestock research and development
The Geomatics Specialist will work closely with ILRI’s research teams, partners, and stakeholders to identify and address geomatics-related challenges and opportunities in the livestock sector
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and support to ILRI’s geomatics activities in Tanzania
- Develop and implement geospatial technologies and tools to support livestock research and development
- Work closely with ILRI’s research teams, partners, and stakeholders to identify and address geomatics-related challenges and opportunities in the livestock sector
- Collaborate with ILRI’s data management team to ensure the accuracy and integrity of geospatial data
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, research institutions, and private sector organizations
Required Skills
- Master’s degree in Geomatics or related field
- At least 5 years of experience in geomatics, with a strong background in geospatial technologies and tools
- Excellent technical skills, including proficiency in GIS software and programming languages (e.g. Python, R)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Education
Master’s degree in Geomatics or related field
Experience
At least 5 years of experience in geomatics, with a strong background in geospatial technologies and tools
Salary
1,000,000 – 1,500,000 SSP per annum
