Job Overview
This role is ideal for passionate individuals seeking to contribute to Tanzania’s thriving tourism industry. The Safari Tour Guide will lead small groups through Zanzibar’s marine ecosystems and coastal trails, delivering educational and memorable experiences. The position requires a deep understanding of local biodiversity, cultural heritage, and safety protocols. Candidates must demonstrate exceptional communication skills and a commitment to sustainable tourism practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead guided tours of Zanzibar’s marine parks, beaches, and historical sites
- Provide in-depth knowledge of local wildlife, ecosystems, and cultural history
- Ensure guest safety and adherence to conservation guidelines
- Coordinate with park rangers and marine biologists for specialized tours
- Maintain tour equipment and submit activity reports
- Assist in developing new tour itineraries and educational content
Required Skills
- Fluency in Swahili and English
- Certification in First Aid and CPR
- Strong public speaking and storytelling abilities
- Experience with marine or land-based tour operations
- Knowledge of Zanzibar’s biodiversity and conservation efforts
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Tourism, Environmental Science, or related field
- Preferred: Postgraduate certification in Ecotourism Management
Experience
- 2-3 years in tour guiding, hospitality, or conservation education
- Proven track record in guest services and safety management
Salary
2,500,000 – 4,000,000 TZS monthly, depending on experience and performance.
