Job Overview

The Water Resource Management Specialist will lead initiatives to assess, plan, and optimize water resource utilization in Manyara Region. This role involves analyzing hydrological data, designing sustainable water management strategies, and coordinating with stakeholders to address regional water challenges. Candidates will contribute to TAWASANCO’s goal of enhancing water security while promoting environmental sustainability across Tanzania.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement water resource management plans aligned with national and regional policies.
  • Conduct hydrological assessments and feasibility studies for new water infrastructure projects.
  • Collaborate with local communities, government agencies, and NGOs to identify water access challenges.
  • Monitor water quality and quantity data to inform conservation strategies.
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations for stakeholders and funding partners.
  • Design climate adaptation strategies to mitigate drought and flooding risks.

Required Skills

  • Expertise in GIS mapping and water resource modeling software (e.g., ArcGIS, HEC-HMS).
  • Strong analytical skills for interpreting hydrological data.
  • Project management experience with a focus on environmental sustainability.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • Knowledge of Tanzanian water governance frameworks and regulations.
  • Ability to work in remote field locations and challenging environments.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Hydrology, Civil Engineering, or related field.
  • Master’s Degree preferred but not mandatory.

Experience

  • 3-5 years of professional experience in water resource management or environmental consulting.
  • Proven track record in designing and executing water infrastructure projects.
  • Experience working in rural or semi-arid regions of Tanzania is advantageous.

Salary

2,500,000 – 3,500,000 SSP per annum, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
