Job Overview
The Renewable Energy Systems Engineer will be responsible for the design, implementation, and optimization of renewable energy projects, including solar, wind, and hybrid systems. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the technical design of solar, wind, and hybrid power systems from concept through commissioning.
- Conduct site assessments, resource analysis, and feasibility studies to determine optimal system configurations.
- Develop detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and bill of materials using industry‑standard software.
- Coordinate with procurement to source high‑quality components while ensuring cost efficiency.
- Oversee installation, testing, and commissioning activities, ensuring compliance with local regulations and Siemens quality standards.
- Perform performance modeling and simulation to predict energy output and identify optimization opportunities.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to integrate renewable systems with existing grid infrastructure.
- Provide technical support during operation and maintenance phases, troubleshooting issues and recommending upgrades.
- Prepare comprehensive technical reports, documentation, and as‑built records for client handover.
- Stay updated on emerging renewable technologies, standards, and best practices to drive continuous improvement.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of solar PV, wind turbine, and hybrid system design principles.
- Proficiency in engineering software such as PVSyst, HOMER, AutoCAD, and MATLAB.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities with a data‑driven mindset.
- Effective communication skills for interfacing with clients, regulators, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Project management experience, including scheduling, budgeting, and risk assessment.
- Familiarity with Tanzanian energy regulations, grid codes, and permitting processes.
- Ability to work independently and adapt to dynamic project environments.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline is required. A Master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., PMP, CEM) are advantageous and demonstrate a commitment to professional growth.
Experience
Minimum of five years of hands‑on experience designing and delivering renewable energy projects, preferably in East Africa. Experience with large‑scale utility projects, hybrid systems, or off‑grid solutions will be highly valued.
Salary
The competitive salary range for this position is 2,500,000 – 4,000,000 SSP per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based incentives and annual bonuses may be offered.
