Job Overview

The Chief Laboratory Technologist will play a pivotal role in overseeing our advanced diagnostic facilities and ensuring the highest standards of clinical accuracy. Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations of the central diagnostic laboratory to ensure timely and accurate testing results.
  • Implement and maintain rigorous Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) protocols.
  • Manage laboratory inventory, procurement of reagents, and maintenance of high-tech diagnostic equipment.
  • Lead and mentor a team of laboratory technicians and junior scientists.
  • Collaborate with clinical staff to integrate laboratory findings into patient care pathways.
  • Ensure strict adherence to biosafety and infection control regulations.

Required Skills

  • Advanced proficiency in molecular biology and clinical chemistry techniques.
  • Strong leadership and laboratory management capabilities.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills regarding diagnostic discrepancies.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of international medical laboratory standards (ISO 15189).

Education

Candidates must possess a Master of Science in Biomedical Science, Medical Laboratory Science, or a closely related field. A Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology is required as a minimum prerequisite for professional registration.

Experience

A minimum of seven years of progressive experience in a clinical laboratory setting is mandatory. At least three of these years must be in a supervisory or management capacity within a large-scale medical facility or research institution. Proven experience in managing automated diagnostic systems is highly desirable.
