Job Overview

The Mine Safety & Health Supervisor will lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of safety programs at the Geita Gold Mine. Reporting to the Mine Safety Manager, the incumbent will ensure compliance with Tanzanian mining regulations, international best practices, and Barrick’s internal policies. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive mine safety and health programs in line with Tanzanian legislation and Barrick Gold standards.
  • Conduct regular site inspections, hazard identification, and risk assessments to proactively mitigate safety risks.
  • Lead incident investigations, prepare root‑cause analyses, and ensure corrective actions are implemented and tracked.
  • Coordinate emergency response drills, rescue operations, and medical emergency procedures.
  • Provide safety training and orientation for new hires, contractors, and existing staff, ensuring competency and compliance.
  • Maintain accurate safety records, reports, and documentation for internal audit and regulatory submission.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and environmental teams to integrate safety considerations into project planning.
  • Promote a safety‑first culture through communication campaigns, toolbox talks, and employee engagement initiatives.

Required Skills

  • In‑depth knowledge of Tanzanian mining safety regulations and international standards such as ISO 45001.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities for risk assessment and incident investigation.
