Job Overview
The Data Privacy Officer will lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of the bank’s data protection framework, ensuring compliance with Tanzanian data privacy legislation, the African Union’s data protection guidelines, and international standards such as GDPR. The officer will work closely with legal, IT, risk, and business units to embed privacy by design into all processes, conduct impact assessments, and respond to data subject requests. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, review, and enforce the bank’s data privacy policies, procedures, and standards.
- Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) for new projects, products, and services.
- Monitor compliance with Tanzanian Data Protection Act, regional regulations, and international best practices.
- Provide guidance and training to business units on privacy obligations and risk mitigation.
- Manage data subject access requests, breach notifications, and regulatory reporting.
- Collaborate with IT security teams to implement technical safeguards such as encryption, anonymization, and access controls.
- Lead internal audits and coordinate external audits related to data privacy.
- Maintain a register of processing activities and ensure lawful bases for data processing.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the Tanzania Data Protection Authority and other regulators.
- Stay updated on emerging privacy trends, legislative changes, and industry standards.

Education

Experience
Minimum of five years of hands‑on experience in data protection, privacy compliance, or information security within the banking or financial services sector. Prior experience managing regulatory relationships and leading privacy programs is essential.
Salary
The successful candidate will receive a competitive monthly salary ranging from SSP 2,500,000 to SSP 3,500,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and allowances may also be offered.
